More blood spilled in St. Johnston’s Village shooting

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The brief moment of calm experienced by the Federation was abruptly shattered last evening (Mar. 28) by news that a young man was shot just outside his home in St. Johnston’s Village.

While information surrounding the incident is still sketchy, SKNVibes understands that it took place at approximately 10:00 pm in the vicinity of the St. Johnston’s Village police station.

Unconfirmed reports are that a young man, believed to be between the ages of 18 – 21, sustained a gunshot wound(s) while he was on the front steps of his home.

The unsubstantiated reports indicate that a vehicle drove into the area, had several shots fired from it and struck a young male, identified by one Village resident as Vernon ‘Les’ Elliott.

The victim was rushed to the nearby Joseph N. France General Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Further reports are that a property and/or properties in proximity of the incident were damaged by stray bullets during the attack.

SKNVibes contacted the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry, for confirmation of incident.

While Henry said that he had in fact been made aware of the shooting, he could not give detailed information until officers had completed their preliminary investigations.
