Lindsay Grant
By: Team Unity Secretariat, Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, (Team Unity Secretariat-Wed., 11th Feb., 2015):- Highlighting Grant’s economic policy including housing, healthcare and comprehensive health coverage, “A Fair Share for All,” Eugene Hamilton endorsed Lindsay Grant, Constituency #4 candidate, calling for hope over despair, integrity over dishonesty, sustainable development over impending disaster.

Jonel Powell expressed similar sentiments while citing Hamilton’s modesty and crediting him as the architect for comprehensive healthcare.

The camaraderie among the candidates is very evident and it is clear that they love and respect each other.

In his role as Master of Ceremonies, Powell elaborated on the government under Team Unity and the collective vision that is shared by the movement.

Sam Condor, in support of his colleague, endorsed Grant calling for the biblical principles of a new order, a new dispensation. “Good governance is predicated on the basis of the “Rule of Law and to honor and uphold the Constitution,” said Sam, Constituency # 3 Candidate, endorsing Grant with full confidence as one of the leaders that can take this county forward.

Vernon Connor, Constituency #6 Candidate, appealed to the crowd. “This is not sleeping time; we’ve got a victory to go after, a victory to win!” he said.

Appealing to the Hispanic voters in Spanish, he outlined the benefits of voting for Team Unity.

He asked the crowd to observe a moment of silence to express condolences for the recently departed Linda Lewis, a stalwart PAM supporter.  “Unity is divine” said Connor. This country; in fact the entire Caribbean region, is depending on Team Unity to deliver the victory for 2015.”

Connor called for the undecided to decide today. “If we want to save this country there is no time for indecision.”

He went on: “Team Unity is committed to saving our young men, putting forward a 5 pronged approach - sustainable employment, rehabilitation programs and activities, teacher training to identify delinquent behaviour, fostering better relationships, and constructing a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center on Nevis. “Vote for Unity and the victory shall be yours,” he concluded.

Constituency # 1 candidate Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd recounted how the election was previously stolen from Grant in 2010, while the Honourable Shawn Richards, Leader of PAM and candidate for Constituency #5, spoke of the crime and violence plaguing the Federation and the vision for the National Unity team to empower young people, laying out alternative solutions to societal ills.
Mandy Marshall introduced Grant as she puts it, “The only representation that we’ve had in Constituency #4,” and describing the “Ghost” whom Richards has said, in a moment of levity, to be absent and presumably with the dead, whom he prefers.

The Honourable Lindsay Grant ‘The Hat’ took the podium touting “real representation”. “I’ve been here for you and you’ve been here for me. I’ve been in the valley but when I get to the mountaintop I will not leave you in the valley, I will take you with me.”

Grant outlined his vision for his constituents. He embodies servant leadership, observed one supporter.

He spoke of the plight of the fishermen and young mothers, farmers, on land issues, on issues of housing and better standards of living. He asked the people: “Can you feel the victory?” The crowd responded with a resounding “Yes”, and in conclusion shouted “Lindsay Grant all the way!”

The Honourable Dr. Timothy Harris, the next Prime Minister, endorsed Grant as he took to the podium.

In his challenge to the crowd, Dr. Harris said: “Five more days to victory, are you ready for the victory?”

“We want a new beginning, a fresh start,” said Harris and thanked the people for their support.

“Unity is stronger than ever and we will go all the way to victory,” Harris said, adding that the Manifesto expresses the hope, dreams, and aspirations for a better standard of living for all the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as its CARICOM neighbours who have made their homes among them.

Harris expressed his vision for his cabinet.

He had the highest praise for Grant, calling him a man of tenacity, compassion, integrity, hard work and dedication.
