BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - LAST evening (Feb. 18), hundreds of Team Unity supporters had gathered outside the entrance to Government Headquarters in Church Street to congratulate Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris as the new Prime Minister of St. Christopher and Nevis.

Minutes after the Swearing In Ceremony ended, the large crowd had gathered behind barricades at the junction of Church and Central Streets, where they were first greeted by former Deputy Prime Minister Sam T. Condor.

On a number of occasions, the crowd was parted in two to allow the vehicles that transported Prime Minister Harris and the other elected Team Unity representatives to move along the street and disembark at Government Headquarters.

Seconds after the attending officers had removed the barricades, the crowd rushed towards the men to hug and greet them, and at some points police officers even had to intervene to prevent them from being trampled.

Standing on the steps of Government Headquarters, Dr. Harris thanked all who supported him and his team described them as the wind beneath his wings. He said today (Feb. 19) the work officially begins in a bid to improve the lives of the citizens and residents of the Federation.

“…This is your government, thank you for making it happen…We want to be able very quickly to take charge of your government. We want you to be watchful, watch who is coming in and who is coming out, watch who is taking out files and who is bringing them back in. And if you have good camera, you take a picture. This is your government and we will work very hard; very hard to ensure that your lives can be improved…”
