6 March 2015 - St Mary’s School and Cedar International School are the 2015 Spelling Bee Champions.
This followed very competitive and intense rounds of the Spelling Bee Finals for the Primary and Secondary schools in the Territory.
Ten primary schools competed in the final round of the 2015 Spelling Bee Competition on March 3 and St. Mary’s School was declared winners. First Impressions’ Primary School placed second while the Willard Wheatley Primary School and Agapé Total Life Academy were both tied for third place.
The other six primary schools in the competition were Enis Adams Primary, Robinson O’Neal Memorial Primary, Ivan Dawson Primary, Isabella Morris Primary, BVI Seventh-day Adventist Primary and Ebenezer Thomas Primary.
In the secondary category, Justine Bryson of Cedar International School captured the title of Secondary Spelling Bee Champion in the final round on Wednesday. The second place winner was Quentin Warren of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre- Secondary Division and tied for third place were Rondel Smith of the Claudia Creque Educational Centre- Secondary Division and Harsh Banthia of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre - Secondary Division.
The other participants in the Secondary Category were Ebony Warren and Jaani Ricketts of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre –Secondary Division and Kimberly Howell, Claudia Creque Educational Centre- Secondary Division.
Spelling Bee Coordinator and Education Officer, Mrs. Susan Frett- Potter, stated that the Ministry of Education and Culture remains committed to the Spelling Bee Competition as it not only helps to improve students’ vocabulary, but also promotes literacy. Mrs Frett-Potter extended congratulations to all the participating students and their respective schools in this year’s Spelling Bee Competition.
The Spelling Bee Competition is a joint partnership with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rotary Club of Road Town.
