CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - GOODWILL MINISTRY, in collaboration with a cross-section of churches, Christian groups and individuals, has responded to the lay-off of Four Seasons employees and other challenges faced by residents, by organising an inter-denominational prayer rally slated for Sunday (Apr. 5) at the Nevis Cultural Complex.

Head of the organising team, Dennis Nelson of Goodwill Ministry said that in times of crisis in any given nation, prayer should be the priority before other responses are sought. Nelson has in the past convened similar inter-denominational prayer rallies in the Federation.

Political leaders, Pastors and their congregations as well as members of the public are invited to gather at the Complex. Kittitians and Nevisians based overseas are requested to pray wherever they are.

“Of greatest importance on this day,” Nelson said, “is to pray forgiveness.”

He based this appeal on  II Chronicles 7:14 which says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face; and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Nelson told SKNVibes that a nation’s prosperity or decline is dependent on the quality of the Christian life of that nation’s community of believers. He said biblical Nehemiah and Daniel had moved the hand of God by repenting on behalf of their nations.

Issues highlighted for prayer include: employees laid off by the Four Seasons Resort; global recession; air, sea and port security; crime and violence; parenting; political leaders; youth; Federal elections; national debt; financial institutions; investors; family; the sick; relationship between St. Kitts and Nevis Police and hospitals, peace and unity.

Also included in the programme are praise and worship hymns.
