BVI Press Release

B.V.I. Wednesday, April 1– The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) in conjunction with the Ministry of Communications and Works today launched an extensive campaign educating electricity consumers on the corporation’s new bill format.

The new bill is expected to provide customers with the necessary information to make educated decisions on conservation, resulting in the efficient use of electricity.

According to Mr. Leroy Abraham, BVIEC’s General Manager, this is one way the corporation will improve its customer service; by assisting customers to better understand rates and charges associated with electricity bills.  “One of the most striking features on the bill is the inclusion of a monthly usage graph, which shows consumers’ monthly consumption. The new bill will also include rates, usage and a billing summary,” Mr. Abraham further stated.

The campaign is designed to ensure that the public is aware of the transition from the old bill format to the new one, as well as to ensure that consumers know the elements of the bill and can understand it.

As part of the campaign there will be newspaper, radio and television advertisements, as well as posters, flyers, radio reports, and television programmes to promote and educate the public regarding this change. The campaign will conclude with the actual implementation of the new bill format in June.

The launching of the new bill format reflects the BVI Electricity Corporation’s continued commitment to providing its customers with the best possible service.
