Toronto: Jamaican born crooner Tony Anthony is one of a number of breakout reggae acts based in Canada, including hit machine Magic, Juno Award winner Esco Levi, Tasha T and Steele who have taken the reggae music world by storm. His 2010 Indy album 'Million Chance' with singles 'Torn,' 'Bad News' and 'Love you so much' topped reggae charts in Canada, Italy, Kenya, Gambia, Holland, New York, Atlanta, Florida, and The U.S Virgin Islands.

The album also debut on the Italian reggae album charts. The album earned Anthony a nomination in the 'Best Reggae Recording' category in the 2011 JUNO Awards and won him awards for 'Best male vocalist, Best Songwriter,' 'Best Single' and 'Best Reggae Album' at the 2011 Canadian Reggae Music Achievement Awards. He also got a nomination in the “Break through artist of the year” category at the 2011 EME Awards in Jamaica.

“I see my songs on play list in several countries and I have been getting a lot of request for radio interviews and jingles from radio djs in places like Cyprus, Brazil, Serbia, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Japan, Hawaii, Kenya, Ghana, the UK, Gambia and the USA. My music is being played worldwide and for that I have to give god thanks” he said.

But while he is conquering the world, the singer said he still finds it very, very difficult to get airplay in his birth country Jamaica.

“It is very difficult getting air play in Jamaica. I know artists living in Jamaica and it’s even difficult for them to get their music played on the radio. I wish I knew the formula to get constant spins on the radio there. One thing I am certain of is that good music is not necessarily one of the criteria, because as my growing fans will attest to, making good music has always been my motto. It is what I have been doing all these years but I just can't seem to get any traction in Jamaica” he said.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Anthony is gearing up to embark on a European tour in May. He is booked to perform in Belgium, Holland, Germany, France and the UK to support the release of his sophomore album 'Live To The Fullest' that was released last October. The album was released on the Phylani Music label and is distributed in Europe by Brainstorm Music Marketing.

“I toured Europe in 2014 for 8 weeks promoting my music and introducing Tony Anthony to that side of the world” he noted.

“The bookings I have received for the upcoming tour are based on the stellar performances I delivered last year and the popularity of the songs from my new disc in that market. 2015 is a continuation of building the Tony Anthony brand and music in Europe. I am also looking to open more doors in Africa and South America” he said.
