BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THIS morning (Mar. 30) Felicia Silcott showed up for work as usual, but her accomplishments last evening are still very fresh in her mind as she took her ‘A-game’ to the 2015 Lime Miss Black San’ Swimsuit competition and overwhelmingly outperformed her competitors to win the crown.

Silcott, who is no stranger to pageantry, came up against Deshona Perinchief, Batania Seaton, Shameika Prentice and Marsha Phillip in five judged segments: Vintage Swimsuit, Creative Swimsuit, Identical Swimsuit, Body Painting and Interview.

All segments, with the exception of the Identical Swimsuit and the Interview, gave the beauties the opportunity to display their creativity and explore the vastness of their imagination.

From signature struts to shells and bows, from sunglasses and umbrellas to pieces of Sandy Point’s history and facets of the Black San’ Bang-A-Lang Festival, the swimsuits were impressive to say the least.

The large crowd was kept entertained during the change-overs by popular local band KC5, Fire Dancers, local Soca artistes Mickhail and the ‘Shake Dat’ artiste out of Trinidad, Jojo.

Master of Ceremonies ‘EK’ Flanders and Co-hosts Unoma Allen and the reigning Miss World Guyana Rafieya Hussain also kept the anxious crowd entertained throughout the course of the event.

At about 1:30 a.m., after all the hard work was completed, the girls emerged onstage and the segment winners were announced.

With 775 points, Prentice was named Second Runner-Up and Deshona Perinchief won the First Runner-Up spot with 799 points.

Silcott was successful in leaving her closest competitors with more than 100 points to deal with, winning the crown with a grand total of 906 points. She received winning scores in all segments except the Body Painting, which was won by Prentice.

Phillip was named the Most Popular Contestant and Silcott received the Chairman’s Award.

SKNVibes spoke with Silcott about her success and she indicated that going into the competition, she had made up her mind that she would not be leaving Sandy Point without the crown.

Silcott said she is proud of her accomplishments, being crowned the Black-San’ 2015 Queen, adding that it is more than enough reason for her to celebrate.

Understanding that she could not have embarked on or completed this journey on her own, she gave thanks to all those who had assisted her along the way.

Queen Felicia left the show with a number of prizes, including the latest handset from telecommunications provider and sponsor of the event, LIME and several gift certificates.

Organiser of the show Treasa Wyatt said the event, from all accounts, was a success and indicated that according to some, the standard of this year’s show is above that of last year’s.
