BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE anticipation which mounted as cell phone users awaited the release of the newest members of the Samsung Galaxy family, the S6 and S6 Edge climaxed yesterday afternoon (Apr. 24) when unveiled and offered for sale at LIME’s flagship store on Cayon Street.
The office was transformed into a somewhat party-like atmosphere for the event with popular DJ EK providing entertainment for the customers who visited the venue that afternoon.
Speaking at the launch, LIME’s General Manager David Lake said it signified a partnership between LIME, a telecommunications giant, and Samsung, a world class vendor of mobile devices. He said it was a momentous occasion because St. Kitts and Nevis, being a destination in which the Samsung phones have become very popular, was among a few selected countries across the region for the unveiling of the smartphones.
Briefing the customers and media on the specs of the devices, Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager Kevin Edwards said it has internal memory of 32Gs with the capacity to upgrade up to 128Gs; a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera and a five megapixel front-facing camera; a clear and crisp video display, fitted with an impressive processor, supports wireless charging; and comes prepackaged with Microsoft Office Suite.
LIME’s Retail and Customer Experience Manager Anthony Morton said not only are the S6 and S6 Edge available for sale, but special packages have been worked out for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
The devices, which have been described by Lake as being the “most elegant, finely-crafted mobile devices made to date”, can be purchased in either white or gold.
One each of the handsets were on display to allow customers to familarise themselves to the feel, functionality and aesthetics of the devices, and a number of individuals who spoke with SKNVibes said it is “very nice”, “highly-functional” and “could possibly replace other devices which we use daily”.
The Samsung S6 and S6 Edge are available in both the St. Kitts and the Nevis LIME stores.
The launch was also a customer appreciation activity where customers who visited the store on that afternoon were treated to a wide array of finger foods, which included sandwiches, meat kind, fruits and vegetables, and were given the option of enjoying a glass of chilled cider.
