Green Valley Global's Annual Walk and Breakfast a Huge Success!

By: T. C. Phipps-Benjamin, Press Release

Green Valley Global hosted its 5th Annual Spring Walk through Central Park on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Walkers, runners, health and fitness fans joined the 3 mile walk, which ended with a healthy and absolutely delicious breakfast spread that included fruit and vegetable salads, green bananas, Saltfish, stewed ocra, conkie, Johnny cake, Saltfish balls, turkey sausages, egg whites, , scrambled eggs, rolls, bacon, tea, juice and water.

Many new faces joined this year's walk but for the most part, all participants shared one common interest; learning about positive ways to promote healthier lifestyles and overall physical appearance. Newly elected tourism Minister, the Honorable Lindsay F. Grant stopped in on the event and also took the opportunity to speak one on one with many of the guests in attendance.

Ms. Dawn Parker, a certified personal trainer and life coach was the guest fitness expert. She captured the audience's attention with her life testimony about weight, health and fitness and took the opportunity to offer important health and wellness tips for Saturday's guests.

Ms. Parker encouraged participants to keep moving and to make every effort to incorporate exercise and healthy eating habits as part of their daily routine. She demonstrated key exercises guests could incorporate to see results in their bodies.

A question and answer segment allowed for many specific thoughts on wellness to be discussed and Parker offered participants the opportunity to stay in touch with her by distributing business cards.

As in the past, this year's event was held to support the Green Valley Festival Committee in St. Kitts who will honour the community's seniors during the 5th Annual Seniors Gala to be held on Sunday May 17, 2015.

Green Valley Global's Health Walk and breakfast was also held with a view to promote positive health habits in the lives of the participants and their families and friends and to continue to forge good relationships between individuals who hail from all parts of the federation and now reside in New York.

The opportunity to interact with family and friends during a healthy event for the purpose of assisting others was certainly a worthwhile undertaking and the guests seemed rather pleased to be associated with the health initiative.

Ms. Glennis Phoenix, Green Valley Global's President, offered warm words of appreciation to all participants for supporting the event, particularly the new comers, as well as Ms. Parker. Ms. Phoenix also encouraged everyone in attendance to plan ahead for a bigger and better 2016 walk and health fair.

Green Valley Festival runs from Saturday May 16 to Monday May 25, 2015.
