Gingerland youth hospitalised in shooting incident

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – POLICE on Nevis are investigating a shooting incident on that island which has left a young man hospitalised and a female suffering minor injuries.

     

    According to a police communiqué, Taj Taylor of Meades Pasture, Gingerland, Nevis, was attacked by unknown assailants and shot in both legs while driving a motorcar in which were two passengers.

    The incident reportedly occurred sometime after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Westbury area and Taylor was transported to the Alexandra Hospital, where he is currently warded

    Reports also stated that one of the passengers, Tameka Leslie, a Jamaican national vacationing at Westbury, suffered minor injuries to her right leg during her attempt to escape the gunmen’s wrath, while the other, Morris Gumbs of Meades Pasture, escaped unscathed.

    According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon Davis, officers of the Violent Crime Unit are currently investigating the incident and they are seeking the public’s assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

    “Anyone who has any information pertaining to this incident is ask to contact the CVU  at 467-1886, 467-1887, 467-1888, the nearest police station, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS). Remember, you do not have to provide your personal information and you may be eligible to receive a reward,” David said.
