Church in Sandy Point burglarised

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONCE again the sanctity of a place of worship in St. Kitts and Nevis was violated by who someone in Sandy Point described as “angels of Satan”.

     

    The violation, this time, occurred at the Pilgrim Holiness Church on Main Street, Sandy Point sometime between Wednesday (Apr. 29) and Saturday (May 2).

    Information reaching SKNVibes states that the church was secured at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday (Apr. 29) and a member of the religious body had discovered it [broken into last night at about 9:15.

    This publication was told that the individual or individuals may have made their entry into the house of worship through a window and stole two flat screen television sets, a mixer and a cordless microphone.

    According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David, officers of the Sandy Point Police Station are currently investigating the break-in and theft.  

    “Anyone who has information pertaining to this incident is ask to contact the Sandy Point Police Station at 465-6261, the nearest police station, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS). Remember, you do not have to provide your personal information, and you may be eligible to receive a reward,” he said.

    This is not the first time bandits had committed sacrilege in the Federation.

    On the morning of Sunday, December 30, 2012, an armed man had entered the St. George’s Anglican Church on Cayon Street in Basseterre and stole EC$13,921.47 from its office while the Treasurer was awaiting the arrival of a security agency to remove the money from the house of worship.

    And on sister isle Nevis, Father Alaric Francis of the St. Thomas' Lowland Anglican Church had reported that the Rectory in Paradise Estate was burglarised.

    Father Francis said the building was secured around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 and he had discovered it broken into sometime after seven o’clock on the following morning, and found that an undisclosed sum of cash and jewellery were stolen.
