St. Kitts to host aircraft rescue and fire fighting training programme

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 6TH 2009 (CUOPM) – A training programme designed to enhance the capabilities of fire fighters deployed at airports in the sub-region will be conducted here later this month.
     
    Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Hester Rawlins said the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire & Rescue Services is collaborating with the Greater Toronto Airport Authority to conduct the training programme here from April 20th to 24th.
     
    Mr. Rawlins said that the facilitators of the training, Deputy Fire Chief Dwayne McIntosh and Captain Don Beau from the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, have been collaborating with the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services to ensure that the twin-island Federation maintains international standards.
     
    Besides St. Kitts and Nevis, the one-week training programme will also be attended by airport fire officers from Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
