OAS, May, 18th, 2015 -- The Organization of American States (OAS) has opened the application period for more than 700 academic scholarships for Master´s and doctoral studies in some 50 Brazilian universities.
The OAS and the Coimbra Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), with the support of the Division of Educational Issues of the Foreign Ministry of Brazil and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), have joined forces once again to launch the fifth edition of this scholarship offer, for studies beginning in the first or second semester of 2016.
The application period will be open until July 15, 2015.
The scholarships will cover tuition, living expenses, linguistic support in Portuguese in host universities and a one time contribution for relocation costs (only offered for the first 100 recipients selected). Although there is no language requirement to apply, the program offers support for studying Portuguese, as the classes will be taught in this language.
In this fifth edition of the OAS Program of Alliances for Education and Training OAS-GCUB, some of the scholarships are offered specifically for programs in health, as a result of the agreement signed between the OAS and PAHO on February 12, 2014. All of the academic programs will take place on the campuses of the participating universities.
This initiative seeks to promote greater integration of Brazilian universities with the rest of the countries of the region, as well as scientific and cultural integration, and the internationalization and mobilization of students in the Americas and the promotion of human development.
Since its first edition in 2011, the OAS-GCUB program has delivered 939 scholarships for Master´s and doctoral studies in more than 50 participating universities. Scholarship recipients have come from 28 countries in the Americas. In this fifth edition of the program, more than 700 scholarships will be offered.
