BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LIME (Cable & Wireless), in collaboration with two world renowned service providers, has launched a Technology Tour to introduce a revolutionary technological system in doing business to entrepreneurs in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The tour was launched yesterday (June 4) in the Conference Room of the Ocean Terrace Inn, where a significantly large number of representatives from small, medium and large businesses in the Federation were in attendance.

Speaking with this publication, LIME’s General Manager David Lake stated that the tour would be on a regular basis, “at least once a year”, and informed what his company aims to achieve.

“The Technology Tour is a concept across the region to bring the latest technology to customers in a way that they would understand and in a way that would meet their needs. It is something we would do frequently going forward...at least once a year.”

He explained that LIME is offering the business community a business solution that would enable them to integrate their telecoms data on a single platform.

“We are partnering with two top tier vendors to provide business solution. It is called myOffice and it integrates traditional PBX and Switching technologies to offer telecoms solutions to businesses. We are partnering with a company called Avaya, which is a leader in the PBX business in their area, and a company called Juniper, which is another top tier provider in the Switching and Welter business.

“So we are integrating these vendors, working on our platform, to provide a single solution to businesses, taking all of the headaches and the complexity out of trying to pull these small devices together. We will be doing all of that for you. You just tell us what you want to do and we will show you how to do it. That is what myOffice is all about!”

Lake stressed that myOffice is the solution to all communication problems that businesses would have encountered in the past.

“The beauty about it (myOffice) is that it is going to do it in a more cost effective way than if you try to do it by yourself dealing with different vendors on your own. So, we have done that for you, we have done all of the legwork for you! We have brought the vendors together and we are providing an out-of-the-box solution that small, medium and large businesses could benefit from.”

Also speaking with SKNVibes was Craig Schnoor, Cable & Wireless’ Director of Customer Premise, Equipment and Hospitality Solutions.

He stated that Cable & Wireless is the largest service provider in the Caribbean and that the Technology Tour is to provide the best solutions to all citizens of the Federation.

Making reference to the revolution in technology, Schnoor said: “We have traditionally done business through telephony, making up telephone conversations, picking up and having our conversations. But it has changed over the years as we have adopted the smart phone, cell phone and even the tablet for our communication.

“What we are doing as a service provider is that we want business owners to embrace the technology in use today and also to revolutionise their businesses.”

He pointed out that the way customers communicate today has gone past just the regular system of telephone communication. “They are now sending messages by email, via text messages and even something as important as fax machine to communicate. So, we want that the businesses in St. Kitts and Nevis are equipped to handle these types of communication.

“So with myOffice solution, we have negotiated with the largest manufacturers in new type communications in telephony, which is Avara, and also networking with Juniper. Coming together and negotiating with Juniper and Avara have realised very aggressive pricing, pricing that has never been seen before in any offer from any provider.”

Schnoor emphasised that in combining technologies from those two providers and with best practices from Cable & Wireless in the way the company does business, entrepreneurs are going to have more efficient processes in assisting them to faster get customers into their solution.

He stated that in addition to St. Kitts and Nevis, Cable & Wireless has introduced the advanced technology in 14 other countries in the Caribbean region, adding that each of those countries has a team of certified engineers who are always on call to keep businesses as the efficient as they need to be.

Also, should the need arises for replacements, Schnoor said that there are support teams in all of the countries within which Cable & Wireless operates to get the solution resolved as soon as possible.

In response to the question of the main purpose of introducing myOffice solution to the business community in the Federation, Schnoor said: “It is helping to revolutionise how business and communication are done here. In the United States, Canada and Central and South America, for example, there is an influx in communication in every way. And that is because of the adoption of data and the smart phone adoption in the way we communicate in different ways now. So, in the Caribbean, we want to make sure that businesses are not neglected by this deficit in communication.”

Participants at the launch of the Technology Tour were each engaged in a raffle draw, the prizes of which were two Samsung Galaxy S6.

The first drawing was won by ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation’s General Manager Clement O’Garro and the second one by Kevin Franklin.
