Cayon man in custody assisting in murder investigation

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ONE individual is in police custody assisting police with their investigation into yesterday's (Jun. 15) fatal shooting of Everette Battice of Keys Village, who is also known as Roach.

     

    A police press release indicated that the Violent Crime Unit is investigating the matter which saw Battice being attacked by armed assailant(s) and succumbing to his injuries.
     
    "One young man of Cayon Village is in police custody assisting with the investigations," the release stated.
     
    The police also extended condolences to the family and friends of Battice.
     
    "The High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police takes this opportunity on behalf of the rank and file of the Force to extend condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the late Everette Battice. Also, to reassure his family members, friends, and the entire Federation that this matter will be provided all available resources to bring the perpetrator or perpetrators to justice."  
      
    The 25-year-old was reportedly shot multiple times to the body shortly after 3:00 p.m. yesterday (Jun. 15) in Cunningham Village in the vicinity of St. Mary’s Park, Lower Cayon.
     
    Everette ‘Roach’ Battice’s death has taken to 16, the total murders committed in the twin-island Federation for the year; 11 on St. Kitts and five on Nevis.
