Education Ministry bans Charlie Charlie game

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WEEKS after the Evangelical Association expressed concern over the Charlie Charlie Challenge being taken by children across the schools in the Federation, the Ministry of Education has imposed a ban on the practice.

The Charlie Charlie Challenge is a Mexican ritual which intends to summon evil spirits.

Over the past couple of months, the Challenge has made its rounds on the internet, attraction the attention of school-aged children around the world including Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago. And those countries have restricted the playing of the game in their schools.

Earlier this month, President of the St. Kitts Evangelical Association, Bishop Ron Collins said his organisation had concerns about the game and, because of its inappropriateness, requested that the Ministry of Education impose a ban on it.

SKNVibes understands that the Ministry issued a correspondence to the Evangelical Association late last week informing that the ban was imposed.

The correspondence indicated that the Ministry has done some investigation and found that children are familiar with the game. It also stated that the Ministry agrees that the Charlie Charlie Challenge poses cause for serious concern.

Each school, according to the correspondence, has been informed of the prohibition of the playing of the game in or in vicinity of schools.

Bishop Collins informed this publication that the Evangelical Association is pleased by the decision taken by the Ministry of Education and indicated that, as is the case with the Ministry, it is willing and able and pledges to continue working collaboratively towards the holistic development of the nation’s youth.

Previously, SKNVibes had spoken to a number of parents who said their children regularly returned from school informing them that other students in their classes were engaging in the ritual.

This publication was reliably informed that in schools, where the game was being played, the students were warned against and forbidden from the practice.

In other territories, it has been reported that during or after playing the game, the students experienced various forms of paranormal activity.
