West Indies Power Holding B.V. (WIP) is currently conducting environmental and social/cultural studies to evaluate what impact the development of geothermal power will have on the islands of Nevis, Saba, and Dominica. The information obtained from these studies will be used to design Environmental Impact Statements and Geothermal Operating Procedures specific to each of the islands.
WIP has hired Geothermal Support Services out of California, USA, to conduct these studies. The study team, with more than 20 years of experience in the environmental aspects of geothermal development, held meetings with government officials and other interested stakeholders, in Nevis, from April 6th through the 13th. The team will conduct similar meetings on Saba, April 14th-16th and on Dominica April 16th-19th.
Kerry McDonald, CEO of West Indies Power Holding B.V. stated “ Geothermal power is the most environmental friendly form of electrical power production. WIP is committed to environmentally and socially friendly operations specifically designed to meet the needs of each of the islands where it conducts its geothermal operations.”
West Indies Power Holding B.V. is an independent power producer specializing in the development of geothermal energy in the Caribbean with operations on the islands of Nevis, Saba and Dominica.
