By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SOL Island Auto Conaree have placed themselves in a solid position following a win over Harris Paint St. Peter’s in the 2015 St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association Final Four Playoffs of the National Bank Premier League in which Rams Village Superstars and S L Hosfords St. Paul’s playing to a draw.

The two matches were played last evening (Jul. 15) at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.

In the first game of the Playoffs, 2013 Champions Conaree FC came up against parish rivals St. Peter’s FC in the third place versus second place encounter.

St. Peter’s had the better of the starts with Kirkland Harris finding space in the box but missed hitting his shot. St. Peter’s however continued to dominate Conaree, especially when attacking down the left wing.

However, St. Peter’s failed to capitalise on their opportunities which were far more frequent than those of the opposing team.

The second half however proved the complete opposite as Conaree looked the better side and created a bulk of chances.

The only goal in the game however came in the 76th minute and was scored by Glenroy Samuel, who hit a sweet strike into the roof of the net.

The goal seemed to have spurred Conaree on as they looked to add more pressure on their opponents. That enthusiasm led to a second goal, putting them in a very good position to earn a spot in the Finals.

The second game saw a battle between defending champions S.L. Hosford’s St. Paul’s and four time champions Rams Village Superstars.

St. Paul’s got off to the best start possible as Keithroy Freeman found the back of the net in the 8th minute in convincing fashion, finishing off a fine attack on the left wing.

Village Superstars however fought back and had created many scoring opportunities which went awry.

The game reached a boiling point in the 30th minute when an altercation ensued between St. Paul’s goal scorer Freeman and a member of Rams Superstars, which led to Freeman being given a red card.

With a 11 to 10 advantage, Village then took control and equalised the game through a strike from Kimare Rogers in the 44th minute.

The goal sparked a celebration led by Rogers, who ran to a stage that was mounted for the CPL Cheerleaders and members of the team danced in front of their fans.

Just seconds later, Village could have been ahead was it not for a brilliant save by Jamal Francis who wandered off his line.

The second half did not produced any excitement as both teams failed to stamp their authority on the game.

The SKNFA used the opportunity to honour two stalwarts in Anderson Dolphin and Steadroy Techeira, who for many years have significantly contributed to the sports discipline.
