Premier of Nevis to Attend Historic Fifth Summit of the Americas in Trinidad

CHARLESTOWN,NEVIS - Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry will attend the Fifth Summit of the Americas in Port of Spain, Trinidad from April 17-19th 2009.
 
The Theme for the Summit will be: Securing Our Citizens Future by Promoting Human Prosperity, Energy Security and Environmental Sustainability.
 
The Premier will be a member of a Federal delegation that will include the Prime Minister of St. Kitts-Nevis the Hon. Dr, Denzil Douglas, Chief Secretary of the Federal Government, Mr. Joseph Edmeade, Ms. Astonia Browne from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and St. Kitts and Nevis Permanent Representative to the OAS, His Excellency, Dr. Izben Williams.
 
The April 17-19 meeting will mark the first time that Presidents and Prime Ministers from the entire Western Hemisphere will meet in nearly three and a half years and this is the first time ever the setting has been in the Caribbean.
 
It is believed by the Premier, that the Fifth Summit will give the United States President, Mr. Barack Obama, the opportunity to get acquainted with the region and exchange ideas and perspectives with his fellow leaders.
