Woman leaves grandsons in vehicle, returns to find vehicle crashed

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, S. Kitts – THE Traffic Department is investigating an incident where a vehicle, which was parked on the Joseph N. France General Hospital compound yesterday afternoon (Jul. 29), moved from its parked position and collided with the perimeter fence.

SKNVibes understands from the Traffic Department that the vehicle, P4061, was being operated by Merle Liburd of Stone Fort and she had parked it in the hospital’s yard, leaving her two eight-year-old grandsons therein while she went inside the Hospital to visit a friend.

This publication also understands that she took the keys with her when she went into the Hospital.

The vehicle was reportedly parked on a grassy section of the parking lot with its front facing the Island’s Main Road.

The Traffic Department reports that when she returned, she found that the vehicle was not where she had originally left it, and that it had collided with the wire and concrete fence near the southern entrance to the Hospital compound.

This publication understands that no injuries were sustained by the lads. However the perimeter fence was damaged and some damage was caused to the vehicle.

    Investigations are ongoing.
