BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST three days after robbing a Domino’s Pizza’s employee of an undisclosed sum of money that belonged to the business establishment, a gun-toting bandit had done the same to a driver of one of Island Bakeries’ delivery van.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, the incident occurred early yesterday morning (Aug. 1) in the Conyers area.

“Officers at the Old Road Police Station responded to a report of robbery that occurred in Conyers at about 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015.

“Initial investigations revealed that a delivery van of Island Bakeries was in the area serving customers. While the driver was outside the vehicle awaiting customers, an armed, masked assailant emerged from some nearby bushes, pointed a firearm in his direction and demanded money from him.”

David said the driver compiled and, after relieving him of an undisclosed sum of money, the assailant ran away. The driver, however, suffered no injury during the brief ordeal.

He is calling on anyone who might have information pertaining to this incident to contact the Old Road Police Station at 465-6250, the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).

“In the police’s efforts to reduce crime in the Federation, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the assistance and cooperation of all law-abiding citizens who share the same vision of the police in seeing that our country is secured.

“We are therefore calling on all to join with those who have already shown and continue to show interest in making St. Kitts and Nevis a safer place to live and visit.” Inspector David implored.

Island Bakeries is owned by Franklin Brand who, according to WINN FM when contacted for a comment on the incident, told the media house that he had thrown his hands in the air.

“I’m so frustrated,” he reportedly told WINN FM, adding, “This happens every holiday weekend.”

The media house noted that Brand said he would have to consider what the company’s options were going forward.

At about 12:28 a.m. on Wednesday (Jul. 29), a masked, armed bandit robbed an employee of Domino’s Pizza, who was in the company of a security officer, while he was on his way to deposit an undisclosed sum of money at the First Caribbean Bank for the business establishment.

He also made good his escape and investigations into this robber are ongoing.
