BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are investigating the death of a toddler who was found dead in bed yesterday morning (Aug. 1) at his parents’ home in Lodge Project.
Speaking with SKNVibes, Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David said officers at the Cayon Police Station had received a report that an 18-month-old boy was found motionless in his bed by a family member.
David said the report was made by the infant’s father, who informed the police that “at about 6:28 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 when he checked on his son, who was in bed, he found him unresponsive”.
The PRO also said that officers of the Cayon Police Station and members of the Crime Scene Unit had visited the home. “They summoned the District Medical Officer, who examined the child and pronounced him dead.”
David also informed that an autopsy would be conducted on the infant’s body before the police could make a pronouncement on his death.
Unconfirmed reports reports state that some strange marks were seen on the infant’s body, including one of his cheeks, and that he was suffering from a neurological disorder characterised by seizures.
