BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LESS than a week after the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services Department battled two major fires on either side of the Kim Collins Highway, it is dealing with another in the same area.
Fire Chief Everette O’Garro explained to this publication that the Department received a report this afternoon (Aug. 3) about the fire and responded immediately to the area.
He said when it got there, it found that a large portion of the land in vicinity of the solar farm, which is located near the roundabout at the eastern end of the Kim Collins Highway, was on fire. The blaze appears to be taking a westward path.
The Unit, according to O’Garro, might have to stay on the scene to monitor the blaze and ensure that it does not spread.
