BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A number of concerned citizens are offering an EC$10 000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the apprehension of the individual or individuals who killed Albert Myers.

According to a police communiqué, Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime Ian Queeley said the fund was established by concerned individuals for the purpose of solving this murder.

It also noted that Queeley said: “If you have seen something, if you heard something as it relates to this or any violent crime, or any criminal activity, tell someone.”

The communiqué further noted that anyone who has information concerning Myers’ murder is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) at the Charlestown Police Station at 469 -5254, any police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).

On the morning of Friday (Aug. 7), police discovered Myers’ motionless body with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds in his Lower Stoney Grove home in Charlestown, Nevis.

The discovery was made by officers of the Charlestown Police Station, who reportedly visited his residence on the request of family members who had not heard from him.

According to head of the Nevis Division, Superintendent Hilroy Brandy, “Upon arrival, the officers noticed the door to the residence was ajar and upon entering the home for further investigation found the lifeless body of the victim.”

Brandy also said: “The officers’ early observation of the victim noted gunshot wounds to body” and it was also noted that the victim’s auto mobile was missing from the premises but was later found in a bushy area at Pinney’s Beach.

Police informed that a comprehensive forensic examination of the vehicle is ongoing and members of the VCU are investigating the homicide with assistance from British law enforcement consultants.

The very popular Refrigerator Technician was loved by all on Nevis who had come into contact with him.

Last evening (Aug. 11), a special programme hosted by Evered ‘Webbo’ Herbert was aired on VON Radio, where he was employed, and many people in the Federation, around the Caribbean and as far as Connecticut in the USA called in to offer their condolences.

Albert Myers’ death has taken to 18, the amount of homicides committed in the twin-island Federation for the year; six on Nevis and 12 on St. Kitts.
