Police seeking public’s assistance in Market Street shooting

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance in bringing to justice the man who had shot Kamal George last evening (Sept. 6) in Upper Market Street.

    A release from the Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, stated that after receiving a report of the incident which occurred at about 8:00 p.m., members of the Crime Scene, Tactical and K-9 Units responded immediately by going to the scene of the crime.

    “Initial investigations revealed that Kamal George of Upper Market Street and a friend were walking up Lower Market Street when they were attacked by an armed assailant(s) who discharged a loaded firearm at them,” the release said.

    It also said that George received a gunshot injury to his right hand and was transported to the JNF Hospital for medical attention, where he was treated and discharged. 

    “The crime scene was processed by members of the Crime Scene Unit and a number of items were collected for further analysis. Investigations into this matter are ongoing,” it added.

    The police are therefore asking anyone who has information pertaining to this incident to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 467-1886, 467-1887, or 467-1888, the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477. 

    They advise that anyone who is willing to respond to the request does not have to provide his or her personal information and “may be eligible to receive a reward”.
