Grace weakens; remnants could affect SKN by Friday

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT is not expected that Grace, which is now a tropical depression, will have any significant impact on the Federation. However, it is expected that sometime on Friday (Sept. 11) the remnants of the weather system would pass to the south of the islands and would bring some gusty winds, overcast skies and the possibility of rain.

This is according to information given this morning (Sept. 8) to SKNVibes by the St. Kitts Meteorological Office.

The weather system is approximately 1340 miles to the east of St. Kitts and Nevis and is travelling at a speed of 20 miles per hour.

Once a tropical storm, Grace’s strength has decreased and it is expected that further weakening would take place over the next couple of days.

The Met Office advised that, at this stage, it is too early to ascertain how much rain the system could release when it gets to the islands, but it would continue to closely monitor its progress.

The Met Office stressed that the expected impact from the remnants of the weather system would not be significant, but residents are asked to continue monitoring its progress.
