Warrant out for teenager’s arrest

WANTED: Shaquiel Emanuel Liburd
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE have issued a bulletin for a teenager who they say is wanted for allegedly committing battery and using threatening language.

He is 19-year-old Shaquiel Emanuel Liburd of Needsmust, who the bulletin described as dark and slim and is considered armed and dangerous.

It warns that he should not be approached if seen but advised that contact should be made with the police.

The police however did not say when and where the incidents occurred, on whom battery was allegedly committed and to whom the alleged threatening language was directed.

This is not the first time Liburd has crossed path with police.

On January 19, 2011, some five weeks before his 15th birth anniversary, Liburd and Xavier Phillip were charged (two counts) for shooting at police officers.

They were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison during the same month and were sentenced by His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas on March 29, 2012.

It was revealed in court that they had shot at the police officers on two occasions. Firstly, when the lawmen were in a parked vehicle in the vicinity of Canada Industrial Site, and secondly, when the officers gave chase.

Liburd was sentenced to two years on each count, which were to run concurrently, but he only served two months after the time spent on remand was taken into account.
