Kendoy “Redz” Penn Remembrance Event – 10 Years After

    Wednesday, September 16 -The family of the late Kendoy “Redz” Penn is hosting a remembrance event titled: ‘10 Years After’ to commemorate the anniversary of his passing.  

     

    The family is inviting the public to the event that will take place at Aritha Maloney Humphrey’s residence in East End on Saturday, September 19th from 4:30 p.m. – 5: 30 p.m. 

    Kendoy was shot several times in his vehicle in the vicinity of his home in Old Plantation, East End on Sunday, September 19, 2005. He succumbed to his injuries on September 22, 2005.
      
    About Kendoy 
    Born March 7, 1975, he completed his primary education at the East End Primary School. Later, while attending the BVI High School he began exhibiting leadership qualities; becoming a member of the student Government and Head Boy.  

    After graduating from BVI High School in 1993, Kendoy became employed with the Land Registry Department. In his role as clerical officer, he became exposed to a diverse cross section of the BVI public and this interaction is fueled his passion for this country. 

    While employed at the Land Registry Department, Kendoy pursued a distance-learning programme in the Real Estate field and became a certified Real Estate Appraiser in October of 2000. At this time, Kendoy decided to pursue law and journeyed to the United Kingdom to do so. 
     
    In July 2003, Kendoy successfully completed his law programme where he earned a Bachelors of Law degree from the University of West of England. In July 2004, he successfully completed the Bar Vocational Course and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn. In September 28, 2004, he was admitted to the British Virgin Islands Bar. 

    He had high hopes of appearing before the European Court of Justice and to later lead the Virgin Islands as Chief Minister. 

    Kendoy was quite generous with his skills, time and expertise and impacted many lives within the community. His favorite quote to live by was: “Quod Per Me Non Possum, Nec Per Alium’ – “What I cannot do myself, I cannot do through another.” 

    The Kendoy will be remembered as an avid dancer, a passionate person who had an undying love for his country and one who stood up for what he believed in. 

    The funeral service was held on Saturday October 1, 2005 at the Church of God of Holiness, East End.

    He is surely missed.
