Pesticides Awareness Week from September 20th to 27th

    September 17th, 2015 -- This year the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board in the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Cooperatives marks the observance of Pesticides Awareness Week from September 20th to 27th 2015 with the promotional theme: “Protect Children from Pesticides”. The theme places the focus this year in St. Kitts and Nevis and throughout the Caribbean region on protecting our children from the negative effects of pesticides. A week of activities has been planned nationally to coordinate with regional efforts to highlight the need to safeguarding our children from pesticides.
     
    The following is the schedule of activities planned to celebrate the week:
     
    Sunday 20th September: 
    • Feature Address by Minister of Agriculture
    Monday 21st September: 
    • Press Release about Pesticides Awareness Week
     
    Tuesday 22nd September: 
    • Radio interview on Winn FM’s program “Talking Trash”
    • Workshop on Pesticide Safety (St. Kitts) facilitated by Caribbean Chemicals Ltd in collaboration with TDC/IICA/ PTCCB
    Wednesday 23rd September: 
    • Workshop on Pesticide Safety (Nevis) facilitated by Caribbean Chemicals Ltd in collaboration with TDC/IICA/ PTCCB
    Thursday 24th September: 
    • Distribution of Pesticide Safety posters to Schools (St. Kitts)
    • Panel Discussion on ZIZ television programme “Round Table” featuring panelists from key stakeholder groups (Agriculture, Health, Chemical Analysis, Private Sector)
    Friday 25th September
    • Distribution of Pesticide Safety posters to Schools (Nevis)
    Sunday 27th September:
    • Premier of Special Pesticide Safety Programme on television program “Agriculture in Context”
    We encourage all stakeholders to get involved in the national discussions through workshops, call in programs on radio and television and other activities that will be held during the week.
