SPBS annual 7-day cruise raffle prizes distributed

By: SPBS, Press Release

SPBS, October 1st, 2015 -- On September 5, 2015 during the SPBS Annual Banquet, held in the Bronx, NY, the annual raffle for the 3 main prizes along with 5 consolation prizes were drawn.  To win a consolation prize of $100, one had to be present at the banquet, so winning a consolation prize would have essentially paid for your banquet ticket and left you with $5 change.  This year was the first time that neither the 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize winner was in attendance at the banquet.  Last year 2014, all the prize winners were at the banquet and collected their prize.  In 2013, the 2nd and 3rd prize winners were at the banquet.  The main prize in 2013 was won by a ticket buyer in Anguilla.

The prize winners were as follows:
    • First prize – Ms. Tanya Walker of Connecticut.
    • Second prize - Mr. Delroy of Canada
    • Third prize – Mr. Vernon O’Garra of New York, New York.
Ms. Walker was delighted to have walked away with the coveted 7-day Caribbean Cruise for two, that everyone dreams of winning.  The certificate allows her to choose from among three (3) different cruise lines, whenever she wants to travel from now until the 5th of March 2017, and choose the Caribbean islands she wants to visit, all this for a value of US$1500.

The second prize was the latest iPad mini with carrying case, and the third prize was a GoPro camera.  Everyone was satisfied with their respective prize.

SPBS wishes to thank all those who bought tickets and supported this worthy cause and we wish those who unfortunately didn’t win, better luck next time.

SPBS is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization whose focus is to improve the learning opportunities of students and teachers who attend or attended the Sandy Point High School/Charles E. Mills Secondary School.  The Raffle is one of our 3 bigger fund raising activities that provide the bulk of the funding to carry out the functions of the organization.  The other two are, the Easter Breakfast on Easter Saturday and the Annual Banquet on Labor Day Saturday.
