Motorcyclist rushed to hospital after collision with truck

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE driver of a motorcycle that was involved in a traffic accident yesterday afternoon (Oct. 6) was rushed to the hospital; but though it was suggested that he was in critical condition, that is yet to be confirmed.

The accident took place at around 1:55 p.m. along the Frigate Bay main road.

Head of the Frigate Bay District Inspector Lyndon David told this publication that the accident also involved motor lorry PA3120, which is owned by John Tweed of Saddlers and was driven by Steadroy Clarke of Christchurch. The motorcycle, PA5901, is owned and was driven by Farooq Baij of the Royal St. Kitts Hotel.

He said both vehicles were travelling in the same direction along the Frigate Bay main road and when the motor lorry got in the vicinity of the junction of Pirate’s Nest and the main road, an attempt was made to turn right into that area, while the driver of the motorcycle, who was behind the truck, made an attempt to overtake it.

A collision occurred during the attempt and the driver was reportedly transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital via the Emergency Medical Services.

SKNVibes is not aware of Baij’s condition or whether or not he is warded at the hospital, but unconfirmed reports suggested that he was in critical condition.

Investigations into the accident are being made.
