Premier Vance Amory and his wife greet Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris after Independence State Service in Nevis
By: SKNIS, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 24, 2015 (SKNIS)—Premier Vance Amory had high words of commendation for Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, noting that Dr. Harris has a genuine interest for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“Working with him in the Cabinet, we find that he is very capable of grasping the issues in a holistic way. He is easy to discuss and talk with, he has, in my opinion, a genuine interest in the welfare of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. In terms of his knowledge of government and what needs to be done in creating policies, I think he is very capable of directing the process over the next so many years…I have every respect for his ability and I do believe that the prime minister will continue to do a very good job,” said Premier Amory.

Amory said there will always be differences of opinion in the Cabinet on certain issues, but if there is consensus, all of the members of the Cabinet are prepared to accept it.

“When all is said and done, if the consensus goes one way, we are all prepared to accept it and I think I find him in that way, very supportive of the views of others and very accommodating of our views,” Premier Amory said.

Premier Amory noted that even when Dr. Harris was a member of the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Cabinet, they both got along well.

“There were differences, but I always found Dr. Harris to be someone open to discussion on any issue that is of national interest,” Amory said.
