By: Horsford’s, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, October 30th, 2015 -- Horsford’s Automotive, the Federation’s favourite auto dealer, has once again demonstrated its corporate responsibility to our nation through the presentation of a $15,000.00 cheque to the Department of Social Services on St. Kitts.

In his opening remarks during the hand-over ceremony on Friday, 16th. October, 2015, Marketing/Automotive Executive, Mr. Valentine Monish, highlighted the contributions the Horsford Group of Companies has made over its 140-year history and pledged his company’s continued support to national development.

“As the federation’s most senior corporate establishment, we have consistently partnered with various sporting, educational and community organizations, as well government agencies. Today we are pleased to have the Honourable Wendy Phipps who will bear witness to, and be on the receiving end of yet another manifestation of our company’s serious commitment to its corporate responsibility,” Monish stated.

Mr. Anthony Kelsick, Chairman and Managing Director of S L Horsford & Co. Ltd., in making his presentation, explained the origins of the donation. “Horsford’s Automotive conducted a promotion during August and September dubbed, from Emancipation to Independence (ETI), and at the beginning of that campaign we pledged to donate $500.00 for every vehicle sold during our promotion period to the government’s programme for the elderly. Our promotion was very successful and we are pleased to present this cheque for $15,000.00 to assist with various programmes for our older persons, upon whose backs our nation was built.” Kelsick ended by expressing his pleasure of being able to partner in this way and wished Minister Phipps and her ministry a successful month of activities.

In accepting the cheque, Minister with responsibility for Social Services and Community Development, Honourable Wendy Phipps, thanked S L Horsford & Company for this kind gesture and acknowledged the tremendous contributions the company has made, and continues to make, through the execution of its corporate responsibility programmes.

She then handed the cheque over to Mrs. Ann Wigley, Deputy Director at Community Services, who explained the donation would be used specifically to enhance the Saddlers Home for the Elderly. Mrs. Wigley, too, expressed her gratitude to the Horsford Group of Companies and emphasized her heightened delight considering, “We did not approach Horsford’s; Horsford’s approached us, indicating their willingness to contribute, in this way, to this year’s Month of Older Persons activities.”

A similar presentation to reflect the outcome of Horsford’s Automotive ETI Celebratory Promotion on Nevis was made on Wednesday, 28th. October.
