Man escapes unhurt in Carty Alley shooting

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS shooting incidents continue in St. Kitts, a man is thanking his lucky stars and is being advised to give thanks and praise to God as he escaped unhurt when multiple shots were fired in his direction.

At approximately 4:25 this morning (Oct. 31), many sleeping residents in Newtown were jolted awake by the loud sounds of gunfire in Carty Alley.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that some four shots were fired but none of them had struck the fleet-footed target who managed to evade the perpetrator(s).

SKNVibes contacted the Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Operations, Vaughan Henderson, who informed members of the Violent Crimes and Forensic Services Units had responded to reports of the incident, where the scene was processed and a number of items of evidential value were taken into police custody for further analysis.

ACP Henderson further informed that “a stolen vehicle was used to perpetrate the crime. It was eventually abandoned in Brumble Street in Newtown and this, too, was taken into police custody”.

He also took the opportunity to remind and advise owners on the safety of their vehicles.

“Owners must pay particular attention to the safety of their vehicle, whether they have them parked in their garage or not. They must ensure that the doors are locked, alarms in place and immediately report to the police when they recognise that their vehicle is missing.”

The ACP said that investigations are ongoing and he has requested that anyone who may have information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator(s) to kindly call “the Violent Crime Unit at 467-1886, 467-1887, 662-9336, the nearest police station, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS)”.
