Island Purified Water launches water Refilling Vending Machine

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ISLAND PURIFIED WATER customers have been given another option of refilling their empty water bottles with the recent launch of the company’s Water Refilling Vending Machine.

A brief but significant ceremony was held over the weekend where the machine, located at the Island Purified Water Basseterre plant, was blessed, commissioned and unveiled for public use.

The machines, another of which is located at the Newton Ground plant, are designed and calibrated to refill the five liter and five gallon bottles and, over time, other machines will be scattered across the island.

Customers who would have purchased Island Purified Water in the aforementioned sizes have the option of now having them refilled at one of the two plants. However, these machines allow customers to have their bottles refilled outside of plant hours.

They would be open to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

    How does it work?

A customer wishing to refill his/her five liter bottle can place it within the provided compartment then feed the required sum of money into the slot provided on the machine and select the bottle size to be filled.

A clearly visible start button is then pushed and water begins to flow into the bottle. The flow ceases when the bottle is filled.

The same procedure applies for refilling the five gallon bottles.

The machines also have a pause button and a sterilisation button to kill any germs or bacteria that might be on the bottles prior to refilling.

    Cash or card?

A representative of the company explained during the launch that the entity is cognisant of the difficulties which the Federation is facing with reference to crime and, as such, it is offering customers the option of attaining a card onto which they could put credit to be used at the vending machines.

Should the customer opt to use cash however, they must note that the machine only accepts $10 and $5 notes as well as $1 and $.25 coins. Exact money must be placed in the machine as it does not generate change.

    History

Island Purified Water was established by Leroy Powell in April 1996 after he returned home from Tortola. In December 2011, the company was expanded from the Newton Ground plant to the one in Basseterre.

In June 2014, a byproduct of Island Purified Water, Island Purified Ice, was introduced and the most recent accomplishment, which was inspired by Powell’s longtime friend Eldred ‘Bro. Jeffery’ Henry, is the launch and the Water Refilling Vending Machines.

The machine was blessed by Pastor Ben Browne of the Cayon Church of God while the ceremonial bow was removed by Bro. Jeffrey and Powell’s granddaughter baby Jaceiah and unveiled by Powell’s daughter Murika.
