James Bond’s Spectre and Bollinger Champagne make big hit

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PERFECTLY decorated space, atmosphere conducive to friendly conversation and light laughter, guests’ faces aglow with brightened smiles, Asia-inspired cuisine perfectly prepared to please the pallet and champagne glasses ever kissed with Bollinger Champagne.

This was the scene Thursday evening (Nov. 6) on the compound of Caribbean Cinemas where a Champagne Reception and exclusive screening of the newest James Bond 007 movie ‘Spectre’ was held.

The black and white affair was held under a tent on the outside of the Caribbean Cinemas building which, after being decorated, had the feel of an up-scale cocktail lounge.

The event was attended by the likes of former Prime Minister and current leader of the Opposition Dr. the Rt. Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Sir K. Dwight Venner, members of the Consular Corps and prominent members of the business community.

Hosted by Arthur and Daislyn Sharpe, owners of Carambola Beach Club and Opus Fine Wines and Spirits Ltd., the event was a continuation of one held several weeks ago, which was designed to introduce individuals to Bollinger Champagne, the official beverage of James Bond.

For many years, a partnership had been forged between Bond and House of Bollinger. It is the “exclusive champagne partner” since 1973 and it has been featured in 14 of the James Bond 007 movies.

Responsible for the ambient atmosphere was Natalie John of Dreamy Décor Bar. She said her use of white flowers, crystals and black material were in fulfillment of the idea her clients proposed.

“The inspiration came from our clients Arthur and Daislyn Sharpe of Carambola, and it was the theme for ‘Spectre’ being presented by Bollinger. And Mrs. Sharpe actually gave us what it is she wanted and then we sat down with our team to decide on what elements we would bring here this evening and this is what we’ve created.”

John said she got great reviews from the guests and Daislyn Sharp indicated to the media that Dreamy Décor Bar “flawlessly” executed their wishes. She described it as a “sophisticated presentation”.

Bollinger, the choice beverage of the evening, was paired with Sushi and other delectable hors d’oeuvres.

Sunil Dora, Manager of Opus Fine Wines and Spirits Ltd., which is the agent for Bollinger Champagne, said the event is important to heighten the awareness of the local populace about the uniqueness of Bollinger and of the ties it has with the Bond brand.

He said Bollinger is the “absolute perfect champagne to really enjoy”.

Following that section of the evening, the guests were invited to enter the Caribbean Cinemas hall where they viewed the newest 007 movie, ‘Spectre’.
