Dr. Shervin Liddie Joins St. Kitts Biomedical Research Foundation Study Director Team

By: SKBRF, Press Release

November 10th, 2015 -- The Foundation is pleased to announce that Shervin Liddie, PhD, of Sandy Point, has returned home to St. Kitts to join St. Kitts Biomedical Research Foundation (SKBRF) as a Study Director and newest member of the translational research team. With more than 14 years of research experience, he is a great addition to SKBRF, complementing existing expertise and service infrastructure.

Dr. Liddie focused on the fields of positron emission tomography (PET) imaging while working at Yale University and the neurological effects of drug addiction during his graduate work.  He is now applying his significant knowledge with the African green monkey to develop new expertise in the determinants of metabolic imbalance, cardiac physiology and the processes of aging.

Prior to joining SKBRF, Dr. Liddie worked with Dr. Yossef Itzhak at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Liddie holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Miami, a BS in Biology from Southern Connecticut State University, and an Associates Degree from Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College on St. Kitts.

“We are very excited to have Shervin as part of our research team,” said Dr. Eugene Redmond, SKBRF President and founder. “In our study director search we look not only for relevant experience, but also for the skill set to positively contribute to our plans for future research expansion.” SKBRF has great momentum moving into 2016 and Dr. Liddie is positioned to be a significant component in our forward motion.” Before leaving the island for college in Connecticut, Dr. Liddie began his research career as a research assistant at the Foundation.
