Entrepreneurship opportunities ahead in St. Kitts and Nevis

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, 12th November 2015 – November 16 to 22, 2015 marks the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) celebration and with it, a series of events designed to educate, network and promote entrepreneurs in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis under the theme “People Serving People.”  

     

    On the morning of Tuesday November 17th an invitation-only business breakfast is scheduled where current and prospective entrepreneurs and key stakeholders will gather to celebrate entrepreneurship. This gathering will afford all in attendance the opportunity to dialogue, share ideas and build relationships which are vital to the continued development of entrepreneurship.  

    Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m., The University of the West Indies Open Campus and Positively Inclined will be hosting “The Exchange, ”- a business Symposium themed “Facebook for Business: Getting it Right,” at the university’s campus, located at the Garden’s, Basseterre. Ervin Welsh of Positively Inclined, the featured presenter promises that it would “feature something for everyone who uses Facebook whether for for-profit or social business purposes.” The Exchange will take place on Nevis on Wednesday 18th November, at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall in Charlestown, Nevis at 7:30pm. Both events are free of cost and open to the public.  

    On Friday November 20th at 8 p.m., there is an open invitation for entrepreneurs, business leaders, organization leaders and prospective business owners/leaders to attend NexConnect, the Federation’s Premier Business Social. The event will be held at the Sugarbay Club.
     
    Attendees can expect a cordial atmosphere where they may to get to know the personality behind the professionals in attendance. There is no cost for this event and if in need of transportation, persons may contact Positively Inclined in advance at 1(869)762-4650.   

    Saturday November 21st, 2015 is the week’s climax, a Creative Arts and Business Expo dubbed “Exposure.” The event takes place at the Old Girl’s School on Victoria Road Basseterre and begins at 12 noon. It is sectioned into three major parts, the Family Fun Day from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. featuring face painting, picture taking, balloon twisting, a bouncing castle and more. From 5:30 pm there will be an idea pitching competition for the sum of XCD$5,000 and support services.
     
    Individuals, businesses and organizations are encouraged to register online to be eligible for this section. From 8 p.m. there is a Creative Arts Expo featuring poets, dancers and vocalists from across the Federation. Admission is free. All are invited and encouraged to support the companies on display at the Business Expo.     In keeping with the theme, there is no set fee for small businesses to exhibit at the business expo, however companies are asked to make a contribution to defray the cost of this event. Positively Inclined’s Founder Ervin Welsh, said “We want to remove as many of the barriers to participation as possible. The original registration fee was set below its value to make it accessible but we felt that by allowing person’s to pay what they can, it gives us an opportunity to better serve and be served as this year’s theme “People Serving People” suggests.”
