Man shot to death in Gingerland

Gervin ’Nose’ Walters
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com
CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – POLICE on Nevis were busy last night (Nov. 14) probing a shooting incident in which one man was killed in Gingerland, and they are seeking the public’s assistance in bringing the perpetrator to justice.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that the incident occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m., which was confirmed by the Police Force Director of Public Information Grell Brown.

According to Browne, the 29-year-old victim was walking with a female companion in the vicinity of the Gingerland Methodist Church in Maynard's Ground when an individual, dressed in dark clothing, emerged from among some bushes and opened fire in the direction of the couple.

He also informed that the victim was shot multiple times but his companion escaped unscathed.

When asked for the identity of the victim, Browne indicated that his name would be mentioned in a press release to be later disseminated to the media.

This publication was however told by an informed source that the deceased is one Gervin Walters, also known as ‘Nose’, of Taylor's Pasture, Gingerland.

According to the informed source, he is said to be the brother of Clive 'Onkash' Walters who was shot in his Bath Village home sometime after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 and succumbed to his injury/injuries at the Alexandra Hospital.

Walters’ death has taken to 25 the total amount of homicides committed in the Federation for the year; 17 on St. Kitts and eight on Nevis. However, the total amount of murders now stands at 24, which exclude the shooting-death of 17-year-old Philo Wallace because his matter is being considered a homicide until the investigation is completed and proven otherwise.

The police are appealing to anyone who has information pertaining to this incident to contact the Gingerland Police Station at 469-3448, Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391, the Violent Crimes Unit at 467-1886, 467-1887 or 467-1888, the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).
