Armed bandit robs small business in Cayon

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WHILE some people are making sacrifices to eke out daily sustenance, unscrupulous gun-toting bandits find pleasure in depriving them of their hard-earned cash and other personal properties of value.

The most recent of this criminal activity occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. today (Dec. 1) in Central Cayon when the owner of ‘Come And See’ was robbed by a masked, armed bandit.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that a man, whose face was partly concealed by a red shirt, entered the small business establishment, pointed a “shiny gun” in the direction of the owner and demanded that he hand over all the money he had in his possession.

The owner reportedly complied and the gunman then turned his attention to a lone customer, but he had no money to fulfil the bandit’s demand.

While the robbery was taking place, the bandit’s accomplice, whose face was also concealed by a shirt, stood as a lookout on the outside.

It was said that the robbery “took place so fast that even neighbours and passersby did not realise what was happening”.

The two bandits made good their escape and those in the immediate area was only alerted after seeing the arrival of officers from the Special Services Unit who conducted investigations.

An individual, through whose comments this media house was made aware of the robbery,  claimed that the area in which it took place has a number of abandoned houses and the lots need to be cleared of bushes.

She suggested that the authorities should install close circuit televisions in that general area, adding that “the officers who came to inspect and take photo, I am certain that they will not put in their report that the lots need cleaning and take action. And at least they should have come with a K9 and perhaps they might have gotten a better result”.
