CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – IN a sad event that took place last evening (Dec. 1) at Stoney Grove, Nevis, a man’s home was totally destroyed by fire while he was reportedly in Charlestown enjoying a game of dominoes.

SKNVibes understands that the house was owned and occupied by Calvason ‘Bing’ Morton and sat just above the Charlestown Secondary School.

Divisional Fire Officer David Stapleton told SKNVibes that the Charlestown Fire Station received a call of a house fire at about 7:28 p.m. and when the unit arrived at the scene, it met the wooden one-storey structure already engulfed in flames.

He said it took them less than an hour to extinguish the flames, and although they were able to control and douse the fire, the structure and all its contents were totally destroyed.

Stapleton informed that no one was at home when the fire occurred, and according to information he had received, the owner and occupant was in Charlestown enjoying a game of dominoes.

The cause of the fire, according the Divisional Fire Officer, is still unknown.
