St. Paul’s woman seriously injured in traffic accident

Former Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas offers assistance to the victim

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – NO sooner than the Speech Day ceremony of the Saddlers Secondary School held at the Pentecostal Church had concluded last evening (Dec. 2), a woman, who was crossing the street therefrom was struck by a motorcar at approximately 19:58 hours.

     

    The incident threw eyewitnesses into a state of shock as, according to reports, the impact caused her to be flung several feet in the air before landing on the back of the vehicle that struck her.

    SKNVibes understands that according to individuals on the scene, while the woman – identified as Christine Douglas of St. Paul’s - was making her way from one side of the road to the next when two vehicles came racing along and she was hit by the one at the front. 

    As for the other vehicle, it reportedly left the scene.

    Reports suggest that immediate-past Prime Minister the Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas was at the scene and assisted with stabilising the victim before she was rushed to the hospital.

    Information gathered by this publication suggests that her injuries are serious, having suffered broken bones including ribs and pelvis.

    Communications Director of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Grell Browne told this publication that the woman was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment and that a press release on the incident would be disseminated.

    This media house was told that the said two vehicles were seen earlier last night racing in the Sandy Point area. 

    SKNVibes is not certain as to whether or not the driver of the vehicle that struck Douglas has been taken into police custody.
