December 3rd, 2015 -- As is customary, the St. Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority has early adopted the spirit of Christmas this year with its usual generous gestures of sponsorship and goodwill.
The month of November became the new December when SCASPA donated:
• $20, 000.00 to the Carnival Committee,
• $8,000.00 to Island Xpression – Project Poetry within the high schools and
• 25 gallons of road marking paint to the traffic department of the Royal St. Kitts and Nevis Police Force
Over the years SCASPA has faithfully partnered with the National Carnival committee in its quest to keep the festival vibrant and growing as the Federation’s expression of national art and culture. The Authority was equally on board this year for Sugar Mass 44, with the handover ceremony that was conducted at the Sea Ports’ compound where Mr. Marcellus Phillip, Acting CEO of SCASPA presented Ms. Shirley Julius, Sponsorship Chairperson of the National Carnival Committee, with a cheque in the amount of EC$20,000.
Ms. Julius expressed many thanks and gratitude on behalf of the National Committee, expressing their profound desire that SCASPA continues to partner with them in the future.
In the same breath SCASPA responded urgently to a plea for assistance by the director of our locally owned Island Expression in a bid to keep the dying art of poetry alive in our schools. As is the case with any such venture geared towards our youth and an investment in their future, SCASPA immediately partnered for the worthy cause.
The project, carrying the acronym P.O.E.T.R.Y (Putting Our Energies Toward Refocusing Youth), is an initiative to be implemented in the high school in the Federation that encourages high school students to utilize and elevate their writing skills while creating a forum for self expression through poetry.
On Friday 27th November 2015, yet another hand over ceremony convened in the Administration building at SCASPA when the traffic Department was the recipient of 25 gallons of road marking paint.
At this ceremony Corporate Affairs and Public Relations Manager, Marva Burroughs presented the paint to Sergeant Calvin Amory and Inspector Carl Caine.
“I extend utmost thanks and appreciation to the Port Authority for this generous contribution. The continuous assistance from the Port Authority has developed a relationship that has strengthened over the years and we will continue to work closely for the future development of the country in any way possible as corporate partners.”
Said a thankful Sergeant Amory.
Over the years, SCASPA has integrated corporate responsibility in its overall business goals, through philanthropic initiatives.
