BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST hours after receiving the coveted Employee of the Year award from Royal Utilities, Royston Collins was found lying on the side of a road and died shortly after being taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital.
The 31-yar-old is the brother of sprint icon Kim Collins.
Shortly after 7:00 this morning (Dec. 8), SKNVibes received a phone call indicating that the young man was taken to the hospital sometime after 2:00 a.m. by an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Unit.
SKNVibes understands that Collins was discovered on the St. Peter’s Main Road in the vicinity of the Mango Tree at Carifesta Village by an individual who alerted the authorities, after which the EMS Unit was dispatched.
Having made contact with the Communications Director of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Grell Browne, about the investigations, he indicated that he was unaware of the incident and advised that he be contacted in an hour’s time.
Attempts to contact Browne more than two hours later proved futile. This publication was however successful in contacting Assistant Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley but he indicated that he was unable to speak, as he was engaged in a meeting.
It is being suggested that Royston may have been the victim of a hit-and-run. This publication understands that an autopsy has already been performed on his body, but the results have not yet been made public.
SKNVibes understands that his unfortunate and unexpected death thrust his loved ones, friends and co-workers into a state of grieve and disbelief.
Royston was an employee of Royal Utilities and only last evening he attended an awards ceremony and dinner where he received that company’s 2015 Employee of the Year award.
