Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 18, 2015 (SKNIS)—Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has asked for an adjournment of the sitting of the National Assembly on the 2016 Budget debate to facilitate shoppers taking advantage of the December 18th VAT (Value Added Tax) Reduced Day.
The Budget debate will wrap up on Monday, December 21, at 10:00 am, after a lively debate so far that has often seen Members of the Opposition irregular in their attendance.
Speaking in Parliament on December 18, 2015, day four of the Budget debate, Dr. Harris, who is also the Minister of Finance, said that the Reduced VAT DAY was off to a good start with many businesses opening their doors at 5:00 am.
