Two shootings in Sandy Point, one results in injury

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO shooting incidents reportedly occurred in as many days in the Sandy Point area, with the latter resulting in injury.

     

    Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that the first occurred sometime during Wednesday evening (Dec. 16) and the other occurred last evening (Dec. 17).

    A police press release issued today explains that the latter took place at about 7:20 p.m.

    “Initial investigations have revealed, a 29 year old male was shot by an unknown assailant dressed in black clothing while he was entering his yard in ‘the Alley’ area. A number of shots were fired at the victim with one striking him in the arm.  The victim was treated at the Pogson Hospital and later transferred to the J. N. France General Hospital for further treatment.”  

    The communique also noted that a suspect was taken into custody following the incident and investigations are being made.

    Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime Ian Queeley, as quoted in the release, has asked for the public’s assistance in dealing with this matter.

    “As we investigate this incident, we urge others who may have seen or have heard about this incident to call the Police.  Together we can rid our communities of the senseless violence.  Our Forensics Unit has canvassed the scene but your assistance coupled with what we do will be difference in solving these crimes…

    “We urge anyone with information that can assist the police in this crime, or any other crime to call any Police Station in the federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline, at 1-800-8477 to share information.”
