Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 29, 2015 (SKNIS): The recent handover of several vehicles from the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the St. Kitts and Nevis Government will serve to improve efficiency in the public sector as officials work to deliver improved standards of service.
Four of the six vehicles promised were presented to the local government on Monday ((December 28). According to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Osmond Petty, five of the vehicles were to be bought locally while the sixth will be sourced internationally as it will be outfitted for a specific purpose.
Mr. Petty said the vehicles are critical to the work of the ministries and departments that they have been assigned to, namely, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of National Security, Office of the Prime Minister, and more specifically the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services and Her Majesty’s Prison.
Mr. Petty thanked the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for its continued partnership in many developmental areas in St. Kitts and Nevis. The sentiments were also echoed by Osbert DeSuza, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister. Mr. DeSuza assured the ROC’s (Taiwan) Resident Ambassador George Gow Wei Chiou that the vehicles will be used appropriately and maintained to ensure that they perform at peak performance.
The keys were presented by H.E. Chiou to Minister of Affairs, Honourable Mark Brantley, who received them on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to Mr. DeSuza on behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister.
