    Deputy Commissioner of Police Robert Jeffers
    Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 3rd 2004)
    – The Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved four acting appointments in the hierarchy of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

    Head of Special Branch, Superintendent Roland Charles has been appointed to act as Assistant Commissioner of Police, for Mr. Clayton Mills, who went on pre-retirement leave on March 1st. That appointment is for three months.

    Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Superintendent Meredith Charles has been appointed to act as Deputy Commissioner of Police from March 1st to May 31st 2004, while Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Robert Jeffers, is on vacation leave.

    Inspector Joseph Richardson has been appointed to act as Superintendent of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

    Inspector Austin Williams has been appointed Acting Superintendent in charge of Special Branch for the period March 1st to May 31st 2004.

    According to Chief Secretary and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Mr. Joseph Edmeade, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis embarked upon exposing the middle management of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force to specialised training to occupy leadership positions.

    Mr. Edmeade told the Communications Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister that government’s effort to involve senior officers in advanced training programme is ongoing. He said several of the officers have been doing well and have been pursuing university level programmes locally and overseas.

    “The Ministry of National Security is satisfied that a new cadre of managers has been identified to move the law enforcement agency forward,” said Mr. Edmeade.
