    Charlestown Nevis (October 6, 2005)
-- The Nevis Island Administration has recently completed the construction of a multi-purpose community centre at Brown Hill in St. John's Parish, and residents are being implored to utilise it to the maximum.
Area parliamentary representative in the Nevis Island Assembly, the Hon Mr Malcolm Guishard, who is also the minister of Tourism and Culture in the Nevis Island Administration, told Government Information Service that the centre would be officially opened to the general public on Saturday October 8 at 5:00 pm.
The centre will house an Internet café, a computer lab and a kitchen. We are hoping that once this community centre is opened that the residents of Brown Hill would utilise it fully, commented Mr Guishard.
We intend to introduce sewing classes as I had indicated before, cooking classes, classes for CXC subjects for persons who wish to further their education. We are looking at introducing classes which would allow them to get their CXC subjects completed and obtain CXC passes, said the minister.
He further explained that the community centre would accommodate young children in the afternoons, as there will be swings in the yard and other outdoor games. These games would mainly cater for children between three to ten years and parents are being requested to drop off their young children in the afternoons.
We are also looking at introducing a library shortly into this community centre, observed Mr Guishard. I am therefore inviting the general public to come out in large numbers to witness the opening of the Brown Hill Community Centre on Saturday at five o'clock. A cocktail will follow.
